How do I sign up for CNN Weather?

You can get CNN Weather on a supported Apple iOS device. Here's how:

  1. Open the CNN Weather app on your iPhone or iPad and choose Continue.
  2. Choose how to share your location information.
  3. On the Welcome screen, do one of the following:
    • Enter your email address and a password and then choose Sign Up. You'll sign in with this info.
    • Choose Continue with Apple or Continue with Google to sign up using your Apple or Google account. You'll sign in this way.
      Already have a CNN account? Choose the Sign in to your CNN Account link and sign in. Can't sign in?
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to finish signing up.

Note If you choose Continue with Apple or Continue with Google, you won't create a CNN password. To sign in later, use the same option you originally chose (Apple or Google).

How much does CNN Weather cost?

Currently, CNN Weather is free to use with a CNN account.

How do I sign in to CNN Weather?

Here's how to sign in:

  1. In the CNN Weather app, tap Sign in to your CNN Account.
  2. Do one of the following:
    • Enter your account email and password and then tap Sign in.
    • Choose Continue with Apple or Continue with Google (if you signed up using your Apple or Google account).

Need help? Go to Can't sign in to CNN account.

To sign out, tap the Settings icon, then Account Settings, and then tap Sign out of CNN.

How do I get around the app?

There's a lot to discover with CNN Weather. Here's what you can do:

Changing locations

You can change your location as often as you'd like. Here's how:

  1. Tap the current city (top-left corner).
  2. Enter a new city or zip code.
  3. Choose your new location.

Your changes will be saved automatically.

CNN Weather saves up to 8 recent locations for quick and easy access. Here's how to switch to a recently viewed location:

  1. Tap the current city (top-left corner).
  2. Choose a city from your Recent list.

Tap Clear at any time to clear your location history.

Hourly and daily forecasts

Stay a step ahead with reliable, real-time data. The hourly forecast provides information for up to 72 hours. The daily forecast provides a forecast for up to 10 days.

You can scroll left or right through each forecast to see what's coming.

Tap the hourly or daily forecast to get a detailed view that includes information like:

  • Dew point
  • Humidity
  • Winds
  • Gusts
  • UV index
  • And so much more
Radar + satellite

You can view radar at any time via the Home screen or by tapping the Radar icon (bottom-right corner).

Here's how to switch to the Satellite view or view it with radar:

  1. Do one of the following:
    • Tap the radar panel on the Home screen.
    • Tap the Radar icon (bottom-right corner).
  2. Tap Radar (bottom of screen). This will open Radar settings.
  3. Choose Radar, Satellite, or Radar + Satellite.
    Tap the Play icon to view 9 hours of coverage.
    To get the map legend, tap the colored bars (right side of screen).

From the Radar settings screen you can also choose to view radar for precipitation, temperature, and wind.

Units of measurement

You can easily switch between Fahrenheit and Celsius. Here's how:

  1. Tap the Settings icon (top-right corner).
  2. Scroll to Units.
  3. Choose Imperial or Metric.

Your changes will be saved automatically.

Wind direction

Here's how to view wind direction:

  1. Tap the Settings icon (top-right corner).
  2. Scroll to Wind Direction.
  3. Choose Cardinal or Degrees.

Your changes will be saved automatically.

Weather advisories

When there's a weather anomaly you need to know about, an alert appears below the day's weather summary (e.g., wind advisory). Tap the advisory for detailed information.

Light mode and dark mode

CNN Weather is available in light mode or dark mode. Here's how to update your preferences:

  1. Tap the Settings icon (top-right corner).
  2. Scroll to Display Mode.
  3. Choose Light Mode or Dark Mode.

Your changes will be saved automatically.

Turn notifications on and off

You can change your notification preferences at any time. Here's how:

  1. Tap the Settings icon (top-right corner).
  2. Scroll to Notifications & Alerts.
  3. Tap to turn alerts on or off.

Your changes will be saved automatically.

How do I delete my account?

Note

Deleting your CNN Weather account deletes your CNN account. If you're subscribed to CNN, deleting your account does not cancel your subscription.

Here's how to delete your CNN account:

  1. Tap the Settings icon (top-right corner).
  2. Choose Account settings.
  3. Choose Delete my account.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to confirm your account deletion.

Troubleshooting

'Looks like you can't use the app yet' message

If you get this message, it means that you don't meet the age requirements to use the CNN Weather app. You can check weather information at CNN.com/weather.

Reset your password

Here's how to reset your password:

  1. Open CNN Weather on your phone or tablet and choose Sign In.
  2. When prompted for your password, choose Forgot Password.
  3. Enter your CNN account email and choose Send reset link.
  4. Check your inbox for a CNN Password Reset email. This email should arrive within a few minutes.
  5. Open the most recent Password Reset email and choose Reset Password.
  6. Enter a new password and choose Save.
